I live in northern Alberta not far from the NWT border, Canada, and winters here can get down to -50°C at times, with -40°C being very common, even during the daytime. I bought these boots about 8 months ago and have been assured that they are worth every penny every time I put them on. I ordered them as a 12 because I'm an 11.5, and without thick socks they are a little big on me, and if you are a similar size and only plan on wearing them in the warmer months than I would highly recommend ordering a size down if you're a half size. It ended up being a blessing in disguise though. Obviously they are completely waterproof, but they are also very lightweight and maneuverable, aswell as very comfortable. They really are an amazing all purpose boot, especially if you live in northern climates where the winters are cold and long and the summers are short are wet. I can hike in these for days, and have taken them to 10,000ft peaks, and they've really blown me away. The adjustable buckle is robust but can be tricky to tighten if you're sitting down but that's a very minor gripe, and it allows me to wear thick pants without being too tight. If you don't have very strong ankles I wouldn't recommend them for hiking as they provide little to no ankle support, but anyone who does any amount of serious hiking/camping surely has strong ankles. The treads are really nice, and they aren't too aggresive so they don't get jammed up with mud. I just wish they made them in black lol.
The Xtra Tuff boots are superior to any I have ever had for fishing in Alaska. They have great tread that doesnt slip on the wet docks and ramps.
However, Id never recommend Fed Ex Smart Post for shipping your boots. The worst customer service Ive ever had.
These bad boys are extra tuff!! Conference inspiring boots. Totally recommend them.
I use these boots as my concrete pouring boots, and they're my favorite. Better than muck boots, dried concrete doesn't stick too heavily to the neoprene, they're lightweight and comfortable, and the wide calf adjustment is nice for fitting extra layers when it's cold.
These were great for our recent Alaska trip. They were easy to get on and off, great for walking on the beach and kept my feet dry for bear-watching and salmon fishing.
